Elektra Magnesium

I began a journey of dedicated gut healing with professional help, around five years ago now, and one of the biggest things suggested throughout the experience, was incorporating Magnesium into my daily routine.

Magnesium is an important and essential mineral that is absorbed through the gut from food and is used in almost all tissues of the body, especially our nerves. Most healthy people receive all the magnesium they need from their food. As Magnesium is absorbed through the bowel, and I have two diseases of the bowel, Coeliac Disease and Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which compromises nutrition absorption, an added supplementation made sense to me.

I wanted to use a product that wasn't in pill form (as I already rattle around like a walking pill packet) and I had been told that I could get what I needed through absorption of the skin. This definitely sounded much more to my liking and I began the research into finding a top quality product that I could use long term to get my needed Magnesium intake.

Elektra Magnesium offers four main products - magnesium cream, magnesium charged lotion, magnesium oil spritz and magnesium flakes soak.

The cream comes in three sizes 300g tubs, 200g tube and 20g tube for on the go and comes in Herbal - Rich and Protect for sensitive skin, Sensory Gold - Creamy and Floral for medium to dry skin, Zest Citrus - Tangy and Creamy for combination skin, Island Spice - Soft and Light for medium to oily.

My first and second order was of the Herbal Rich and Protect Magnesium Cream 300g tub, as I have sensitive skin and the product is a mild formula recommended for sensitive or extra dry skin. The base notes of the cream are described as a comforting and reassuring scent of ylang ylang, patchouli and rose geranium essential oils. While the scent is quite strong, I didn't mind it and found after rubbing it into the soles of my feet (which is a great place to absorb through the skin) and putting socks on, I didn't really notice it.

The third order I tried out the Island Spice Magnesium Cream 300g tub and 100g tube as they had a special on and I quite like this formula as well. This too is a mild formula and I found it to be lighter and not as oily, as it is directed more at medium to oily skin. The scent is described as rose geranium, ravensara aromatica and magnolia champaca flower which is not as strong as the herbal scent and personally more of a preferred scent for myself. I have ordered this scent ever since.

In this time I have also put both sets of grandparents, my dad and my aunt, on to using magnesium cream as they each suffer with one of more muscle cramping, stiffness, joint pain, diabetes related neuropathy in the feet, autoimmune disease. They have all found the cream very helpful and continue to order it on a regular basis.

I have found the magnesium cream personally to be very helpful in relieving muscle cramps and sore joints, and aid in detoxification when going through my gut healing journey. I definitely noticed a big improvement in soreness after work outs and the restlessness in my legs has almost completely subsided. I have also noticed an improvement in my over all moods (I am medicated for chronic depression and anxiety).

I have personally been using this product for four years now and it has become a part of my daily routine. Elektra Magnesium has definitely created a formula that is super simple and comfortable to use and is something I will continue to use on an long term basis.
