Better Being Bars

Updated: Jun 6, 2020

I am so passionate about wholefoods and the direct connection of nutrition between our gut health and mental health, and in today's quick-fix society filled with chemicals, preservatives and sugars, finding healthy and tasty snacks on the go can be a nightmare!

I have been building my plant-based, gluten-free repertoire for some years now, due to a number of health and gut issues of my own, with many good and bad finds - thankfully these bars have made it on to my tasty short list!

Our mission is simple: Snack Better, Be Better.

I have followed Steph McDonald's (IG: @BetterBeingSteph) story on Instagram for some time now and her very raw and honest journey with food, physical and mental health has always rung true to the things I have dealt with over the years. This combined with Sneaky Wholefoods mission, gave me the confidence to try out these bars without hesitation.

I purchased the Better Being Bars Bundle for $45.50AUD which includes five Caramel Macchiato Cacao Bars and five Vanilla Cookie Dough Choc Chip Bars. Each bar is wrapped in an aesthetically pleasing foil package and posted out in a recyclable Sneaky Wholefoods box. You also receive information cards on each of the bars.

Caramel Macchiato Cacao Better Being Bar

I am definitely not a coffee lover by any means, but this bar gave me a sense of familiarity, it reminded me of the days I would go out and get a very sweet mocha with friends at the local coffee club (trying to learn how to drink coffee and failing). The bar itself is quite a dense bar and does tend to crumble a bit but as I like to break my bars up into bite-sized pieces, while I'm doing other things, this didn't both me at all.

These bars feel homemade (they're made by hand) and I feel this adds to the experience of feeling like I'm fueling my body with something nutritious - although not everything home made is better for you - these remind me of the protein balls I make from scratch with the same base ingredients of dates and nuts.

Caramel Macchiato Cacao Better Being Bars have collaborated with and contain Before You Speak Coffee, which is made up from Colombian Coffee Bean, MCT, Siberian Ginseng, Green Coffee Bean Extract, Turmeric, Caramel Flavouring, Black Pepper Extract and Stevia.

Each bar is gluten-free, grain-free, plant-based, high-protein and each ingredient has been hand selected to provide the highest nutrition for your body.

It is recommended to be eaten at room temperature for optimum taste and texture.

Vanilla Cookie Dough Choc Chip Better Being Bar

When I saw that I could have gluten free cookie dough and chocolate chips in one, I jumped at the chance to give this a go!

This bar is also quite dense with the exception of being a dough. It is all the right balance of salty cookie dough and tasty sweet vegan chocolate chips that melt in your mouth. It makes you feel like you're eating a naughty treat without the guilt and honestly, its hard to stop at just one, as they are delicious!

All the bars contain Pea Protein Isolate which gives you that much needed protein boost when you're in need of pick me up. Each bar is gluten-free, grain-free, plant-based, high-protein and each ingredient has been hand selected to provide the highest nutrition for your body. It is recommended to be eaten at room temperature for optimum taste and texture.

The Vanilla Cookie Dough Choc Chip bars are hands down my favourite out of the two but both flavours will definitely be making a steady appearance in my snack box (if they last long enough!) I truly enjoyed each of these bars and I look forward to continuing my relationship with these tasty treats. The added bonus being that they are made here in my home city Perth, Western Australia.

I am also excited to try out the Better Being Blends from the Better Being range and Steph McDonald's amazing recipes, so stay tuned for future posts on these.
