Easter has come and gone for this year and while it was definitely not the usual day of family gatherings because of COVID-19 - I did have a quiet and enjoyable day with my immediate family, munching on chocolate goodies from Moo Free Chocolate and Pico Chocolate.
Last year I ordered the Moo Free Sea Salt & Caramel Egg, in a self-put-together trial box of mixed gluten free, vegan Easter chocolate through Biome (read full review here) and fell in love with the brand! I knew this egg had to be back on my list for Easter again! Needless to say, it didn't last long once my family got their hands on it as well! The flavours are just the right balance of sweet and savoury with the mix of rice milk, caramel and sea salt. This will be an Easter staple as it is tasty, creamy, gluten free and dairy free which supports my gut with coeliac disease AND my WHOLE family enjoys it!

Moo Free Easter Bunnycomb Egg + Choccy Chum Surprise 110g
The second egg I ordered was the Moo Free Easter Bunnycomb Egg + Choccy Chum Surprise - while I realise this is aimed more towards kids - I love honeycomb and chocolate together so an Easter egg with crunchy gluten free, vegan friendly honeycomb toffee was a no brainer!
Moo Free is a high quality milk chocolate made from a special secret dairy free chocolate recipe using rice milk. Moo Free is dairy free, lactose free, gluten free and soya free, and palm oil free, GMO free, registered vegan, cruelty free, egg free, wheat free, casein free, organic. Allergen advice: Made in a factory that handles hazelnuts.
This egg definitely delivered on the "honeycomb" aspect and I feel this flavour combination is a great substitute for those who can't, or choose not to have honey, but miss the experience. I also love that you get a good sized chocolate packaged separately in the top, so you can choose to eat it all together or save it up for later! This egg is definitely a good size for children, as a gift, but adults will definitely enjoy it just the same.

Pico Hazelnut Milk Chocolate 80g
While I didn't order the Pico Hazelnut Milk Chocolate 80g through Biome, I was recommended this brand by a friend, and I can purchase this at the local which is good for a treat now and then. This brand is vegan but it not certified Gluten free (but does not contain any gluten/wheat containing ingredients). I trialed this at my own risk, as a coeliac, but I was very careful reading the ingredients list and did not have any reactions or issues with eating this chocolate.
Pico is made in Switzerland (which automatically makes this chocolate a top choice for me and I love Swiss chocolate) and is vegan, certified organic, fair trade, contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives or emulsifiers, ethically sourced.
This chocolate genuinely reminds of Ferrero Rocher/Nutella and that is so exciting as it's been 10 years since I've enjoyed something that tastes so close to the real thing! The chocolate itself is very "milk" creamy and not one of my family would've picked that this chocolate was an alternative, if I hadn't let them know. The chocolate is 45% cocoa and contains crunchy hazelnut pieces.
Allergen advice: contains hazelnuts. may contain almonds.
Pico comes in: Almond Milk 48% Cocoa Coconut Milk 55% Cocoa Mint Crisp 58% Cocoa Salted Caramel 52% Cocoa Sea Salt 58% Cocoa Super Dark 85% Cocoa
Check out the Pico website to find out which local stores new you stock this chocolate.
All in all, these three Easter treats were a success on taste and experience and although they are a little pricey, I don't mind spending the money when the quality is so high. I would definitely recommend these two brands to anyone who is vegan, gluten free, lactose free, or just in general as a tasty chocolate. 🍫
